COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR

Are you a creative storyteller, social media whizz and animal lover? Do you love turning moments into meaningful stories, creating eye-catching content and getting people excited about a cause? Then we want to hear from you!

We’re looking for a full-time Communications Coordinator to help us share ARO’s impact, grow our community of supporters and make sure more animals get the care they need.

You’ll be:

πŸ“± Managing and growing ARO’s social media channels
🎨 Designing graphics, posters and campaign materials using Canva
πŸ“Έ Capturing and sharing stories from our clinics, events and communities
πŸ’» Keeping our website fresh and up to date
πŸ’Œ Writing donor updates and our annual newsletters
🎟️ Creating artwork and communications to promote fundraising events and sell tickets
🀝 Helping secure sponsors and showcasing our amazing partners
πŸ“° Sharing our stories through local newspapers, radio and other traditional media
πŸ“… Planning content calendars and communications campaigns
πŸ“Š Tracking what works and finding new ways to inspire supporters

You’ll need:

βœ”οΈ At least 3 years’ experience in communications, marketing or social media
βœ”οΈ Excellent writing and storytelling skills
βœ”οΈ Canva proficiency (Adobe Creative Suite is a bonus!)
βœ”οΈ A valid driver’s licence and your own reliable vehicle
βœ”οΈ The ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines
βœ”οΈ A positive, can-do attitude and a passion for animal welfare

Salary based on experience.

KENNEL HAND

Are you an animal lover who doesn’t mind getting your hands dirty? Do you enjoy caring for dogs and cats, working as part of a team, and making a real difference in the lives of animals every day? Then we want to hear from you!

We’re looking for a full-time Kennel Hand to join our hospital and mobile clinic team. This is a hands-on role for someone who is compassionate, hardworking, and committed to providing excellent care to our patients while helping our mobile clinics run smoothly.

You’ll be:

🐾 Caring for hospitalised dogs and cats by ensuring they have food, water, bedding and clean spaces
🐾 Monitoring patients and reporting any signs of illness or abnormalities to the veterinary team
🐾 Assisting with loading and unloading animals from the mobile clinics and hospital vehicles
🐾 Helping maintain clean kennels, catteries and mobile clinic vehicles through daily cleaning and weekly deep cleans
🐾 Assisting with crowd control and engaging with communities at our mobile clinics
🐾 Educating pet owners on responsible pet care, including sterilisation, feeding and vaccinations
🐾 Ensuring all animals are safely and humanely handled at all times
🐾 Helping with patient identification, weighing and record-keeping
🐾 Supporting the wider team wherever needed and keeping our operations running smoothly.

You’ll need:

βœ”οΈ Matric certificate
βœ”οΈ Experience working with animals (professional or volunteer experience advantageous)
βœ”οΈ A valid South African driver’s licence
βœ”οΈ The ability to speak more than one South African language would be an advantage
βœ”οΈ The ability to work overtime, weekends and in a physically demanding environment when required
βœ”οΈ A positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn
βœ”οΈ Compassion, patience and a genuine passion for animal welfare
βœ”οΈ The ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team.

Salary Based on Experience.
