ANIMAL RESCUE ORGANISATION EUTHANASIA POLICY:
Animal Rescue Organisation operates as a welfare hospital. We strive to provide quality and compassionate care for every animal that enters our doors. Our mission is to relieve the suffering of animals in underprivileged communities. This unfortunately includes making the difficult decision of when an animal needs to be euthanised. This decision is never taken lightly, and every animal is assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Humane euthanasia is a method of ending an animal’s life in a painless and compassionate manner. Animal Rescue Organisations euthanasia policy establishes clear guidelines for the humane and ethical euthanasia of animals under our care. This act will only be carried out by trained and qualified personnel using approved and humane methods.
CRITERIA FOR EUTHANASIA:
Medical reasons:
Behavioural reasons:
Overpopulation:
Animal Rescue Organisation actively promotes primary animal health care as well as sterilisation programs to reduce the number of animals requiring euthanasia and to promote responsible pet ownership. This is an ongoing battle, that our staff and other welfare organisations fight daily. We do this in the hopes that one day all animals will be well cared for in their forever homes, and that euthanasia will only have to be performed if absolutely necessary.
