We’re looking for a full-time Communications Coordinator to help us share ARO’s impact, grow our community of supporters and make sure more animals get the care they need.
You’ll be:
π± Managing and growing ARO’s social media channels
π¨ Designing graphics, posters and campaign materials using Canva
πΈ Capturing and sharing stories from our clinics, events and communities
π» Keeping our website fresh and up to date
π Writing donor updates and our annual newsletters
ποΈ Creating artwork and communications to promote fundraising events and sell tickets
π€ Helping secure sponsors and showcasing our amazing partners
π° Sharing our stories through local newspapers, radio and other traditional media
π
Planning content calendars and communications campaigns
π Tracking what works and finding new ways to inspire supporters
You’ll need:
βοΈ At least 3 years’ experience in communications, marketing or social media
βοΈ Excellent writing and storytelling skills
βοΈ Canva proficiency (Adobe Creative Suite is a bonus!)
βοΈ A valid driver’s licence and your own reliable vehicle
βοΈ The ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines
βοΈ A positive, can-do attitude and a passion for animal welfare
Salary based on experience.

We’re looking for a full-time Kennel Hand to join our hospital and mobile clinic team. This is a hands-on role for someone who is compassionate, hardworking, and committed to providing excellent care to our patients while helping our mobile clinics run smoothly.
You’ll be:
πΎ Caring for hospitalised dogs and cats by ensuring they have food, water, bedding and clean spaces
πΎ Monitoring patients and reporting any signs of illness or abnormalities to the veterinary team
πΎ Assisting with loading and unloading animals from the mobile clinics and hospital vehicles
πΎ Helping maintain clean kennels, catteries and mobile clinic vehicles through daily cleaning and weekly deep cleans
πΎ Assisting with crowd control and engaging with communities at our mobile clinics
πΎ Educating pet owners on responsible pet care, including sterilisation, feeding and vaccinations
πΎ Ensuring all animals are safely and humanely handled at all times
πΎ Helping with patient identification, weighing and record-keeping
πΎ Supporting the wider team wherever needed and keeping our operations running smoothly.
You’ll need:
βοΈ Matric certificate
βοΈ Experience working with animals (professional or volunteer experience advantageous)
βοΈ A valid South African driver’s licence
βοΈ The ability to speak more than one South African language would be an advantage
βοΈ The ability to work overtime, weekends and in a physically demanding environment when required
βοΈ A positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn
βοΈ Compassion, patience and a genuine passion for animal welfare
βοΈ The ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team.
